Picking the Correct College

In State
It is understandable if one of your goals is to go to an out of state school and really begin a new phase of your life. This is something that many people do and it has a great payoff in the end. If you are not sure what you want to do, or what you want to major in then you should look at an in state school. You can get tuition break if you are a resident, and this can make your tuition substantially cheaper. It might not be the college experience that you are looking for right away, but if it can save you some money then you might want to consider it.
Based on Your Degree
One of the things people want to do is go to the best college available, and that they got accepted to. This is also a great goal, but you want to think differently. Do you know what your major is going to be? If you do then you should look at colleges that are more geared towards that major of your choosing. This will help you get the best education possible for your career desires. If you can find a school that tailors to your degree, then you will find that you are a step up on the competition after you graduate. This is a great thing.
Two Year Colleges
A lot of people start off at 2 year colleges and see great results. These colleges can often be cheaper but more importantly can help springboard you into the 4 year college. You can work on your grades at these schools and possibly transfer to the 4 year school with a bunch of new scholarship opportunities. Doesn't saving money and working towards gaining new scholarships sound like a winning combination? You can also just work on your general studies at these colleges and then be ready to vault into your degree at the 4 year schools.
